Cargo insurance

Carrier’s liability insurance is not cargo insurance, and liability limits under the CMR are usually linked to the weight of the cargo, not its full value. Where the cargo is of higher value, we discuss the need for additional insurance before transport.

Customs formalities

When cargo crosses the EU’s external border, customs documents are required. Together with customs brokers, we assess in advance which documents will be needed for the specific consignment to reduce the risk of document discrepancies and delays.

International freight transport

We organise transport on routes to and from at least 28 countries. We select the route and transport according to the size of the cargo, the deadline and the loading and unloading conditions.

What do our logistics services include?

Freight transport is our core service. We tailor the other solutions – coordination of customs formalities, insurance and warehousing solutions – to the specific needs of the client so that everything works as one coordinated process:

01Route planning and transport selection

We assess the nature of the cargo and the desired timeframe. Then, drawing on experience gathered since 2001, we find and propose a price and timing solution suited to the specific situation – transport in a dedicated trailer or as a part load, direct transport without intermediate stops or with transhipment. Where needed, we also organise mixed (multimodal) transport, where part of the journey is covered by one mode of transport and part by another.

02Coordination of customs formalities

When customs documents are required for transport, we help assess in advance what information will be needed and coordinate document preparation with the client and customs brokers. This helps reduce the risk of document discrepancies and delays.

03Cargo insurance

We help assess whether the carrier’s liability limits are sufficient for a particular consignment or whether it is worth arranging additional cargo insurance. Additional cargo insurance is not automatic – it is arranged for a specific consignment and a specific shipment in accordance with the terms of the insurance policy. You can find the insurance terms here.

04Warehousing coordination

When cargo needs temporary storage between stages, we coordinate a warehousing solution with the onward transport.

05Consultations

We help you choose whether a full or a part load is more suitable for your cargo – depending on the quantity, budget and deadline.

These services work as one system. Our logistics and freight transport form a single, integrated process rather than separate, uncoordinated services. When all stages are coordinated within the same project, the client does not need to deal separately with several different suppliers.

Freight transport by different modes

The size of the cargo and the frequency of shipments determine which transport option is most beneficial for the client. Before proposing a solution, we compare the options and choose the one that fits the specific deadline and budget:

Full truckload (FTL)

The truck is dedicated to one client, so additional handling stages are avoided and the delivery time can be planned more precisely.

Part load (LTL)

Consignments from several clients travel on the same route, so the transport cost is shared and becomes more favourable for smaller quantities. You can find more about part-load transport here.

Regular routes

For regular clients, we can arrange recurring schedules or pre-agreed pricing principles that help plan shipments more consistently.

You will find more detailed information about transport modes, their advantages and applications on our transport services page.

Cargo tracking and communication

Clients need to know where their cargo is at any given moment. We assign a responsible person to every shipment, who keeps you informed of the key stages: loading, border crossing (where applicable) and the estimated time of arrival. During working hours, the client can contact the responsible manager to check the status of the shipment. This transparency is especially important when the client’s further business processes depend on the delivery time – a production schedule, restocking of a retail chain or a contractual deadline for the end buyer.

Why choose our logistics services?

UAB „Kauno logistikos agentūra“ has been operating since 2001 and over this long period has gained practical experience with different types of cargo, routes and client needs.

EVERYDAY HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

Our team organises both domestic and international routes every day, so it knows where delays most often occur at particular stages and tries to take this into account when planning the route. Each route is assigned a responsible person – not a general helpline, but a specific contact who can be reached by phone or email during working hours.

TERMS AGREED IN WRITING

Before starting work, we agree in writing on the price, the deadline and the limits of liability: what happens if the cargo is delayed and who is responsible at each stage. This helps you clearly understand the agreed terms and any possible additional costs in advance, and if a question arises, it will be clear whom to contact. Our freight transport is based on a written agreement, not verbal promises, so both parties know what to expect from the very start.

How we work together:

  1. Request. The client provides the cargo details: loading/unloading locations, cargo description, dimensions, weight, the date it will be ready for shipment and the cargo value.
  2. Quote. During working hours, we usually provide, within 1–2 working hours, a quote with the price, transit time and proposed transport solution, or clarifying questions.
  3. Agreement and documents. Once the terms are agreed, we discuss the required documents and, if necessary, coordinate their preparation with the client, the carrier or customs brokers.
  4. Transport. The freight is transported according to the agreed schedule, and during working hours the client can check the status of the cargo with the assigned responsible person.
  5. Delivery. The cargo reaches its destination, and if any questions arise, the team remains available after delivery as well.

Who are logistics services for?

We work with companies from a range of sectors:

MANUFACTURING COMPANIES

regular transport of raw materials or products, where schedule accuracy matters most.

TRADING COMPANIES

transport of goods between warehouses and shops, with frequent, smaller deliveries.

CONSTRUCTION SECTOR BUSINESSES

transport of materials or equipment to sites, including oversized cargo.

SMALLER BUSINESSES

a reliable partner for a one-off shipment when there is no need for regular transport.

We assess these differences when planning the very first shipment. We evaluate each request based on the specific cargo, route and timeframe.

FAQ

What should I ask before ordering freight transport?

Before ordering freight transport, it is worth clarifying three things. First, whether the quoted price is final and in which cases it may change. Second, who will coordinate the shipment and whom you can contact while it is under way. Third, what liability applies to the cargo being transported and whether, given its value, it is worth insuring it additionally.

Who is responsible for organising the freight transport?

UAB „Kauno logistikos agentūra“ agrees the transport terms, price, deadline and limits of liability with the client in writing. The client has one responsible contact who coordinates the shipment from request to delivery and helps resolve any additional questions that may arise during transport.

What logistics services do you provide?

We organise the freight transport process: we select the transport solution, coordinate customs formalities, help assess insurance needs and, if required, arrange warehousing. We handle full and part loads in Lithuania and on international routes.

How quickly do you respond to a freight transport request?

During working hours we usually reply to requests within 1–2 working hours – with a quote or clarifying questions. To help us reply faster, it is useful to state straight away the loading/unloading locations, a description of the cargo, its dimensions, weight, the date it will be ready for shipment and the cargo value.

Can you take care of customs formalities for the cargo?

Yes. When transport requires customs formalities, we help assess in advance what information will be needed and coordinate document preparation with the client and customs brokers. This helps reduce the risk of document discrepancies and delays at the border.

Do you also handle one-off transport orders?

Yes. We work both with companies that need regular transport and with clients who need to arrange a single, specific shipment. We assess each request based on the cargo, route, timeframe and other specific conditions.

What is the difference between full and part-load transport?

With a full truckload (FTL), the vehicle is dedicated to a single client’s cargo, so additional handling stages are usually avoided and the delivery time can be planned more precisely. With a part load (LTL), space in the vehicle is shared with other consignments, so this solution is often more economical for smaller quantities.

Where is your office and how can I contact you?
